Course Information
Canadian Firearms Safety Course (CFSC) &
Canadian Restricted Firearms Safety Course (CRFSC)
These courses are designed for those that are interested in owning and using firearms.
The CFSC is designed for those that are interested in non restricted firearms including most rifles and shotguns.
The CRFSC is designed for those that are interested in restricted firearms including handguns and some rifles and shotguns. After successful completion of the course(s), you will be able to apply for your Possession/Acquisition License. The CFSC is a prerequisite for the CRFSC.
Topics for both courses covered include: the evolution of firearms, major parts, types and actions;basic firearms safety practices; ammunition; operating firearm actions; safe handling and carry procedures; firing techniques and procedures; care of firearms; responsibilities of the firearms owner/user; and, safe storage, display, transportation and handling of firearms.

Conservation and Hunter Education Training
Completing this course is a Provincial requirement for first time hunters.
The following topics are covered: Role of the Hunter, Hunting Ethics, Wildlife Management & Conservation, Wildlife Identification, Clothing and Equipment, Firearms, Bow Hunting, Survival, Field Techniques, First Aid, Hypothermia, Legal Responsibilities
This course is delivered in a classroom setting and is suitable for those that are not comfortable with online learning. If you are comfortable with online learning, another great option is to take the course through the Alberta Hunter Education Instructors Association (AHEIA).
